What Does This Test Detect?

Our Herpes Rapid Test identifies the presence of antibodies produced by your immune system in response to Herpes Simplex Virus:

• HSV-1 (Herpes Simplex Virus Type 1) – Commonly associated with oral herpes (cold sores), but can also cause genital herpes.
• HSV-2 (Herpes Simplex Virus Type 2) – Most commonly linked to genital herpes.

We test for two types of antibodies to help determine the stage of infection:

• IgM Antibodies – These appear early in an infection, indicating recent or active exposure.
• IgG Antibodies – These develop later and remain in the body, indicating a past or ongoing infection.
