Female Pelvic Ultrasound

High-Resolution Imaging for Female Pelvic Health
At Total Health Medical Centre, we offer advanced Transabdominal and Transvaginal Pelvic Ultrasound services for women seeking accurate evaluation of their reproductive organs. This specialized scan provides detailed images of the uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes, and surrounding pelvic structures. It is particularly useful for diagnosing conditions such as ovarian cysts, uterine fibroids, and other abnormalities that may not be as clearly seen with a standard abdominal ultrasound.
Unlike a traditional pelvic scan, the transvaginal approach uses a slender, specially designed probe that is gently inserted into the vaginal canal (the front passage), allowing for closer proximity to the pelvic organs and significantly improved image clarity.
What Can a Transvaginal Pelvic Ultrasound Detect?
Ovarian cysts or masses
Uterine fibroids
Endometrial thickness and abnormalities
Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS)
Pelvic inflammatory disease
Unexplained pelvic pain or abnormal bleeding
Causes of fertility concerns
What to Expect
The procedure is safe, well-tolerated, and typically takes 15–20 minutes. You may be asked to hold your urine for 1 hour prior to the scan and drink lots of water (at least 5 tall glasses of water 1 hour before the scan). The scan is first done transabdominally and a then afterwards, you’ll be asked to empty the bladder after which the probe is covered, lubricated, and inserted with care by a trained medical professional in a private, respectful setting. Your comfort and dignity are always our priority.
